Prison Economics Help Drive Ariz. Immigration Law
"NPR spent the past several months analyzing hundreds of pages of campaign finance reports, lobbying documents and corporate records. What they show is a quiet, behind-the-scenes effort to help draft and pass Arizona Senate Bill 1070 by an industry that stands to benefit from it: the private prison industry."

Anti-Illegal Immigration Group Denies Ties to White Supremacists, Nazis
"It may be a bad time to be endorsed by Americans for Legal Immigration PAC, or ALIPAC. The group is once again being accused of ties to white supremacist groups and Nazism, this time by the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. The DCCC released a statement Monday alleging that Jesse Kelly, a Republican candidate for Congress from Arizona, “has doggedly pursued the support of a group with known white supremacist, anti-Semitic and neo-Nazi ties.” Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), the committee noted, tied ALIPAC to white supremacists when the group endorsed his primary opponent in March, while the Anti-Defamation League has accused the group of unfairly demonizing illegal immigrants."

Georgia Lawmaker Wants Mexican Immigrants Shot
"At a candidate forum last week, Georgia state Rep. John Yates (R) was asked for his recommendations on what to do about illegal immigration in Florida. Yates replied that troops on the border should be given “shoot to kill” orders and that flyers should be dropped in Mexico warning of the new immigration policy."

Guess who said this against Catholic immigrants.
We should build a wall of brass around the country.

Guess who said this against German immigrants.
Few of their children in the country learn English ... The signs in our streets have inscriptions in both languages ... Unless the stream of their importation could be turned they will soon so outnumber us that all the advantages we have will not be able to preserve our language, and even our government will become precarious.

We are all descended from immigrants!

Nebraska's Struggle to ensure equality before the law
The story of Nebraska's struggle to ensure equality before the law for all citizens come to a crisis point when the Nebraska Legislation outlawed German as a language in school settings.
On April 9, 1919, Nebraska enacted a statute called "An act relating to the teaching of foreign languages in the state of Nebraska," commonly known as the Siman Act. It imposed restrictions on both the use of a foreign language as a medium of instruction and on foreign languages as a subject of study.
Siman Act provided that "No person, individually or as a teacher, shall, in any private, denominational, parochial or public school, teach any subject to any person in any language other than the English language." see, Meyers v. Nebraska, 262 U.S. 390 (1923)

Do you know what our State motto is?
The official state motto of Nebraska is "Equality before the law." The state motto appears on our state seal and state flag.
"Equality before the law" is the principle under which each individual is subject to the same laws, with no individual or group having special legal privileges. No one is exempt or included more than another.
